Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies
- 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1/3 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups old-fashioned oats, uncooked
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg 1-cup raisins
- ¾ cup shortening, softened
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into a bowl. Add shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla; beat until smooth about 2 minutes. Stir in oats and raisins. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes about 3 ½ dozen cookies.
